Ruth Beall Society Member Barbara Moore enjoys “helping children unable to help themselves.” Read her story about the impact Arkansas Children’s Hospital has had on her life.

I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard about Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Forty-seven years ago, my husband was in his medical residency and rotating through ACH.

He told me about the children he saw at the hospital and the amazing care they received.

I remembered his experience a few years later when I was asked to help plan a fundraiser for the ACH Auxiliary.

I said yes quickly, anxious to do anything to help the children who were unable to help themselves.

Since that first fundraiser, I have served as president of the ACH Auxiliary and as a member of the board of directors.

In addition to my board and volunteer service, I’ve also experienced the hospital as a parent.

Our son Michael was born with special needs and has visited the hospital for various reasons throughout his life.

One of the things I’m most proud of is this: Children come from all over the state, region and country to receive the care this hospital provides.

It has been my great privilege to see this hospital grow into the world-class institution that it is.

What I find so amazing is that everyone on staff – from the person greeting you at the front doors to the many wonderful physicians – is passionate about what they are doing.

It shows in their work and it shows in the way they interact with the patients and families.

My husband and I are proud members of the Ruth Beall Society – a group of individuals who have included the hospital in their wills, trusts and other estate plans.

Our gift will help ensure that the amazing care, love and hope offered every day at ACH continues into the next century.
