ACHiever Program

The ACHiever program was started in 2002 to share with young girls the importance of volunteering and giving back to one's community. In the fall of 2018 the ACHiever program will grow to include a separate program for young men. The two programs will meet on different dates but both will receive a true understanding of the many career opportunities in the healthcare industry while, also, learning the importance for volunteerism. Educational sessions will take place on Monday night each month from 5:30 to 6:45 pm, September - April. The age group for both programs is ninth-grade. Throughout the year, the ACHievers will tour different areas of the hospital, volunteer for various ACH Auxiliary projects and learn about the value of philanthropy. The ACHiever application deadline is June 30, 2019 and scholarship applications are due May 30, 2019.

Arkansas a la Carte

Guests of Arkansas a la Carte are encouraged to bring a big appetite! The ACH Auxiliary spring fundraiser features tasty treats from more than 20 central Arkansas restaurants and caterers, and an extensive silent auction. Arkansas a la Carte raises approximately $60,000 each year and usually draws more than 400 guests. The event is a great opportunity to get a "taste of Arkansas" while also having fun and raising money for the hospital.

Holiday Cards

Since the hospital first opened its doors in 1912, patients have been using markers, pencils, crayons and glue to create beautiful artwork. In 1968, the ACH Auxiliary decided to share patient art with others by selling holiday cards, each featuring original artwork created by an Arkansas Children's patient. The Holiday Card Project has grown over the years, and now includes gift tags, ornaments and t-shirts. Through the Holiday Card Project, ACH Auxiliary members are raising community awareness of the hospital and sharing the ACH story.

The annual patient art contest runs from September - March. Winning artwork will decorate the holiday cards. Read the contest guidlines and learn how to enter

Chair: Anne Wallace
Order Cards (available October 1st): The holiday card website is currently closed.

Miracle Ball

In 2006, the ACH Auxiliary teamed up with the Arkansas Children's Foundation to host Miracle Ball, its first black-tie fundraiser for the hospital. At this yearly event, guests celebrate the joys of the holiday season and the miracles that happen every day at ACH. Miracle Ball has become the signature event of the social season in central Arkansas. Auxiliary members share ideas on decorations, food and music and many volunteer their time to transform a plain conference space into a haven of class and elegance. The event raises $500,000 annually.

The Playaway Gift Shop

The Playaway Gift Shop is one of the oldest fundraising projects of the ACH Auxiliary. Playaway has grown from a rolling book cart to a 3,000 square-foot store prominently located in the ACH lobby. The gift shop is staffed by full-time employees, but Auxiliary members volunteer their time selling candy, wrapping gifts and sharing hugs with weary patients and family members. But most importantly, they raise funds to support the hospital.
