Fundraising Toolkit

Every dollar you raise as part of the Race for a Healthier Tomorrow goes toward Arkansas Children’s mission of helping make children better today and healthier tomorrow.  To truly impact pediatric health, we need to reach more children in more ways where they live, learn and play.  That’s where you can make a big difference!  Your donations allow Arkansas Children’s to be on the cutting edge of new technology and procedures.

Here a few tips to help you on your fundraising journey:

  1. Tell your story! Make sure to tell everyone what motivates you and why Arkansas Children’s is important to you. Personal stories are a great way to give your efforts some meaning to others.
  2. Just ask!  Don’t be shy! Ask everyone you know to support your efforts.  Make it clear that no amount is too small. In many cases, people donate simply because they were asked.  People will be honored to be a part of your endeavor.
  3. Lead by example! Excitement is contagious!  The best way to inspire your team members to start fundraising is to raise funds yourself.
  4. Spread the word!  Let everyone know that you becoming a champion of children by participating in the Race for a Healthier Tomorrow.  Tell everyone about your fundraising goal and what these dollars will help do.  Share your passion through text, email and social media. And of course, talk about your team’s involvement whenever you can.
  5. Get competitive! Use our fundraising contests and incentives to help reach your goals!  As your team members raise funds, your team total increases.  Your team members can earn prizes while increasing your team total at the same time!

Who should I ask?

EVERYONE! Family, friends, co-workers, your significant other’s co-workers, classmates, business associates, customers, gym buddies, your doctors, your kid's teachers, coaches, neighbors ... and the list goes on.  The more who participate, the larger the impact for the children of Arkansas.

Team Captains

Thank you for joining the Arkansas Children’s Race for a Healthier Tomorrow!  This kit is designed to provide you with the tools you will need to make your team’s experience fun, successful and rewarding.  Our team captains are critical to helping this race exceed all expectations!

As a team captain, your main responsibility is to motivate and encourage others to join your team.  There are no limitations regarding who can join your team so be sure to invite friends, family, neighbors, co-workers…anyone who cares about Arkansas Children’s.  Once your team is in place, you will be responsible for keeping your members motived, inspired and informed of your registration and fundraising progress.

Lets Get Started!

  1. REGISTER online at www.archildrens.org/race beginning August 1.  Click the button that says form a team and follow the instructions given. By creating a team, you will automatically be appointed team captain.  Your team must be formed before members can join so come up with a special group name and get online!
  2. RECRUIT team members.  Once you have registered, use your personal headquarters to recruit team members. Invite everyone you know using our email and social medial tools.   There is no limit as to how many people can join your team, and you will be surprised at how quickly your team can grow!
  3. RALLY your team members to start fundraising.  During the registration process, you will be asked to set a fundraising goal for your team.  You can encourage each team member to set their own individual goals, too.  Use our fundraising contests and incentives to help reach your goals!
  4. REPRESENT your group with a unique team page.  After you register, log in to your personal headquarters and add group photos and personal stories about your own lifesaving experiences with Arkansas Children’s.

Here are a few tips to get your team rolling!

  • Make a list of possible team members.  Invite anyone and everyone to join your team and participate in the Race for a Healthier Tomorrow!  If someone you know cannot attend the race, encourage them to be a virtual runner!
  • Give your team members background information on Arkansas Children’s so they can speak passionately about our mission.  We’ve included a fact sheet at the end of this guide for easy reference.  Your team will be motivated knowing that each dollar they give will fundamentally improve children’s health in Arkansas and beyond.
  • Keep your team inspired with advice and support.  Host a team kick-off party or plan a team bonding activity that everyone can enjoy!
  • Set up a registration table at your office, school or club house to make it easy for people to sign up.  You can also display registration brochures and posters in high traffic areas.  Make sure to include your contact information so people can join your team!
  • Encourage friendly competition at the office!  Have a contest to see which department can recruit the most members and better yet, which department can raise the most money.  Publicize your team in company newsletters and display race information around the office.
  • Select a couple of co-captains to help you with team recruitment.  When you find new team members, encourage them to invite their own family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors, too.
  • Design a team t-shirt or team costume to unite your group on race day!
  • Have fun!  Excitement is contagious!  Your most powerful tool for recruiting team members is your own enthusiasm for Arkansas Children’s.  If you are enthusiastic about the race then others will be eager to join you.
